Tiny Worlds Video Work 1
The geological site near Racos, Brasov County, consists of an extiguished volcano, a deserted basalt quarry (home to a natural lake), and a wall of basalt colums. The whole site is a protected area and it was home to a residency which I was a mentor in, in July 2022. This is one of the works I developed together with Irisz Kovacs for the basalt columns site. It is a time-lapse footage of a part of the wall which has been projected onto the wall itself, generating a loop of a single day's sun passing over the rocks. The installation also contained a spoken text which Irisz wrote and read, which also ran in a loop. The work came out of the need to address the time scale perspective we took on for the week we lived in the vicinity of eons of rock layers, and how they intertwine with the rich life covering the surrounding hills.
