This is a text / video / sound installation I did together with Ioana Hogman and Vlaicu Golcea in July 2022, at the Racos Geological Site, in Brasov County. The site consists of an extiguished volcano and a number of basalt formations, including a deserted basalt quarry which has been filled by a wonderfully still lake. This is the place I chose for this particular work. I wanted to do a piece that evokes the time scale revealed in the geological strata, as well as the rich life which surrounds the site, and to allow the participants to meditate on their own relation to this place. I decided to use the microscope, and I started to gather samples of vegetation, dead insects, rocks and other artificial objects laying around. I asked Ioana to write a text on her personal experience on the site, and Vlaicu to do a live set to accompany our live projection. On the last night of the Magma Showcase Festival, we gathered on the shore of the lake and I started to project Ioana's text together with my images. Vlaicu joined us for what turned out to be a half an hour essay of images and sound.
