LOC
LOC is a project that will span for many years into the future. It consists of a virtual platform, which is accessible for the general public through AR technology on-site. With every new project added, it will build-up towards a virtual version of the city of Cluj-Napoca, which will exist as an exploration and debate space, touching on pressing topics such as global warming, gentrification, access to resources, segregation, urban planning and not least, living with our non-human cohabitors. The three main directions of the project are the Contemporary Art Platform, the Educational Platform and the Research and Debate Platform. These will come together as tools to initiate dialogue and interaction between the artists, scientists, civil society actors and the wide public, and to create the possibility of exploring the future of what it means to live together with each other and with the environment. This project can provide space for art installations, land art pieces or interactive game scenarios that can be experienced within the city but do not occupy it as physical objects, but rather as virtual entities that leave powerful conceptual traces once they have been experienced. It offers a space for virtual classes for students who can experience lessons about history, environment, or social matters while using the concrete space of the city as background. It can exist as a space for alternative developments of the urban areas that need improvement, thus opening up ways to debate various ways in which the city can develop.
