Sonar (test)
This was a sound performance I did in March 2020 at the opening of ZIZ - Art and Social Area in Cluj-Napoca. It was rather a test through which I wanted to explore how sound can work as a trigger for other types of mental processes. The set-up was simple: I started a Facebook live video which was accessed on a laptop that was connected to the sound system in the room. After I presented myself to the audience, I left the room and the building, walking for a while and eventually entering my car and driving away while playing the radio. The audience was thus left looking at the empty stage and listening to the sounds of my feed while I was making my way further and further from the building. It turned out to be quite an effective way of mapping the space of the city around the location of the performance, working like a sonar that would generate mental images and empathic connections with the world outside and with personal memories and thoughts. This post is just a partial document, since I did not film the audience during my leave, though I wish I would have.
