Ordinary People
January, 2016, Sibiu, Romania. Set, costumes, video and light design. My first collaboration with director Gianina Carbunariu, the show was constructed by her on interviews she conducted with eight wistleblowers from three different countries. The visual concept was to have the characters and the set merged into this monochrome entity, that represents the idea of "institution" in general. Also, a very important feature was to have the set really close to the edge of the stage, to force the characters to coexist in a very compressed, narrow space. The video projection consisted of two different approaches, one was a very minimal representation of conventional warning signs, and the other was the projection of the actual interviews the play was built upon.
