Mesterul Manole
My first collaboration with Andrei Majeri, who wanted a modern take on this old Romanian popular myth. The main challenge with this project was to tackle the big size of this stage, and to do it with restrained means, since we started out going for a clean, minimalist, synthetic look. The mechanism was a simple one, having successive spaces that reveal themselves one after the other, making the space larger and larger. The backgrounds were very important in this set-up, so I was lucky enough to work with Paul Pitea of Young Advertising, who printed some really beautiful textures for us. Also, my first collaboration with the wonderful Lucian Broscatean, who designed the gorgeous costumes for the show.
